in THE workshop.

We drive over to France to source most of the mirrors, although some are lucky finds from the South West of England. They come back to our workshop in rural South Somerset, which benefits from great natural light and views over an historic cider-apple orchard.

Some mirrors are left untouched—increasingly there’s demand for antique gilt and inlaid fine wood mirrors. With others, we apply several layers of traditional chalk paint, then sand, and wax to seal. We like to retain the authentic character of the mirrors. Gilding is with metal gilt unless specified as gold leaf on the tag.
